Showcasing innovation for public health: from intelligence to concrete innovations ready to scale
22 September 2026, 10:00-11:30 CEST
Innovation is identified in EPW2 as a critical lever and as foundational action #5 for achieving public health impact by enabling cost effective, scalable changes in practice and policy that improve population level health outcomes. EPW2 underlines the need to close the implementation gap between disruptive breakthroughs and sustainable adoption at scale by building a robust innovation ecosystem that connects stakeholders, provides clear policy frameworks and strengthens capacities for health innovation, including through ethical guidance, coordination mechanisms, foresight functions and national implementation support.
This side event will contribute to these EPW2 commitments by: (i) presenting early work on regional foresight and horizon scanning for emerging innovations in healthy ageing; (ii) showcasing how Member States and partners are piloting and scaling innovative service models, digital tools and governance reforms; and (iii) engaging ministers and senior decision makers in a structured discussion on the policy implications of the key innovation areas identified through the horizon scanning work.
Participants will gain a better understanding of how innovations with particular reference to healthy ageing and NCDs can be embedded in routine models of care, governance and financing, and how EPW2 can support Member States to move from intelligence to concrete innovations ready to scale.
